Is a high impact, individual contributor, subject matter expert resource for Advanced Development paint and painting processes related projects and limited very specialized technical support on plant issues that the normal RTS channels have not been able to solve. Also functions on select teams for strategic planning and other non-routine projects. Responsible for project planning, execution of plan, analysis of information gathered and reporting/recommendations to senior management.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and maintains a high level of expertise in his/her field(s) that must include paint selection experience, equipment specification/selection and process optimization including solvent, water based and powder paints as well as all types of commercial stains on wood, metal and composite substrates.
2. Create design solutions and prove technical feasibility for various paint chemistries and application processes.
3. Strong and effective communicator who can succinctly make the points and draw the correct conclusions.
4. Expert in researching a topic and getting solid answers to tough technical questions
5. Strong statistical analysis experience for studying various test results and forming sound conclusions
6. Exhibits a high sense of urgency and desire to accomplish solid results.
7. Actively keeping current on latest technologies via technologies shows trade publications and supplier newsletters.
8. Obtains and maintains certifications where appropriate
9. Develops estimates for time, cost and quality for projects, documents business cases for technology selection and successfully presents sound cases that win funding.
10. Specifies designs and/or modifies specialty tooling, fixtures and machines.
11. Participates in safety training and promotes safety through design and actions.
12. Practices the "Pella Total Competitiveness System" to support growth, customer satisfaction and profitability.Individual must be able to travel regularly via commercial airlines and also via rental cars as the principle driver. Estimated travel at 15-25% of time.Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s of Science degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university; and 7-10 plus years related experience and/or training. Experience should include concept through successful launch responsibilities for at least 1 facility’s treating and coating systems. Prefer individual with extensive aluminum substrate background.Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills:Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factorial analysis.Reasoning Abilitiy:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Computer Skills:Word, Excel, Power Point, Minitab and ideally, experience with CAD software.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:None required.Physical Demands:
