Assistant Vice President, Strategic Products
The department is responsible for increasing production through accessibility of down payment assistance programs and mortgage credit certificates.
The Assistant Vice President, Strategic Products is responsible for implementing certain initiatives under the direction of the First Vice President - Strategic Products. Responsibilities include providing technical support for these strategic products including communicating information to the production divisions and risk management. Reviews and provides recommendations for approval of down payment assistance programs (CSPs and Grants) and Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) programs (and others as required) by determining whether the programs are within agency and internal guidelines.
Primary responsibilities include:

Technical Support. Gathers information, reviews program parameters, determines whether programs can be approved and either approves programs or determines that further management approval is required for community seconds, grants, and MCC programs. Establishes and maintains appropriate documentation for each program approved. Responsible for necessary communications with appropriate agencies and production divisions. Also responsible for assigned tasks in the writing and publication of the Company's Guidelines pertaining to these programs ensuring that Investor Guidelines are being followed at all times. Maintains and updates the applicable manuals and databases with current programs and guidelines.

Sales Support. Interface with all production divisions to provide product and training support for all approved down payment assistance (CSP and Grant) programs, as well as MCC programs. Assigned tasks may require travel.

Program Administration Support. Set up new MCC & down payment assistance programs, review programs and initiate updates and renewals as required. Provide reporting to production divisions and other affected departments and support as needed.

Perform other assignments or special projects as requested, including any necessary reports for senior management.
A successful candidate will have:

Bachelor's degree in Business, or related experience/degree.

5+ years work experience in mortgage banking preferably in underwriting and/or processing affordable lending products.

Knowledge of retail lending business and branch operations helpful.

Knowledge of homebuyer education requirements and counseling techniques.

Mortgage product knowledge essential.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and manage relationships with GSEs, government agencies and non-profit organizations.

Ability to travel 10 -15% of the time throughout the country to provide training to Production Divisions.

Excellent MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills. DOS, Lotus Notes, MS Project and MS Access skills a plus.

Excellent organizational skills required and strong interpersonal skills.
