Biosafety Coordinator
The Biosafety Coordinator (Assistant Biosafety Officer) will provide professional assistance to the University Biosafety Officer in implementing, monitoring and coordinating a comprehensive biological safety program throughout university research and teaching laboratories. BA or BS in biological sciences required. Minimum 2 years work experience in biosafety practice or hands-on work in biological research lab required. Successful candidate must be able to obtain a valid Maryland driver's license, pass a baseline physical, and pass the select agent program security risk assessment. Starting salary range $48-60K. Facilities Management Safety Programs Manager
The Manager of Facilities Management Safety Programs will implement safety and environmental management programs for the Department of Facilities Management. Minimum qualifications include bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, biology, industrial hygiene, chemistry, physical sciences or related field; five years progressive work experience in the health & safety profession; bilingual (Spanish) speaking/writing competency; experience developing and implementing occupa t ional safety & health programs; experience working with regulatory agencies; ability to pass and maintain physical and training qualifications for work with hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment such as respirators; and valid driver's license with fewer than six points on driving record. Certification as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the American Board of Safety Professionals is preferred. Starting salary range $47,450 - $59,312, commensurate with experience. Program Coordinator - Laboratory Auditor
The Program Coordinator - Laboratory Auditor will provide safety services to academic and research laboratories including routine auditing of safety and environmental management, evaluation & installation of warning signage, and coordinating/conducting evaluation of safety equipment. Minimum qualifications include bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, chemistry, biology, industrial hygiene, physical science or related field; at least 3 years work experience associated with occupational safety & health programs in the laboratory environment; at least 16 credits from accredited college/university in general and organic chemistry; laboratory experience and knowledge of chemical hazards; ability to pass and maintain physical and training qualifications for work with hazardous materials and use of respiratory protection equipment; and valid driver's license with fewer than six points. Experience with Occupational Safety & Health programs in a research university setting or similar is preferred. Starting salary range $41,617 - $52,022, commensurate with experience. Coordinator - Occupational Safety Programs
The Coordinator of Occupational Safety Programs will manage and implement campus-wide Occupational Safety programs at the University of Maryland including Confined Spaces, Lockout/Tagout, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Personal Protective Equipment, Research Pressure Vessels, Electrical Safety and Fall Protection Programs. Minimum qualifications include bachelor=s degree in safety, engineering, biology, physical sciences or related field; at least 5 years progressive experience in the occupational safety profession; ability to pass and maintain physical and training qualifications for work with hazardous materials and use of respiratory protection equipment; experience with Occupational Safety & Health program implementation; experience working with regulatory agencies; and valid driver's license with fewer than six points. Certification as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the American Board of Safety Professionals is strongly preferred. Professional health & safety program experience in a large research university or similar setting is desirable. Starting salary range $48,396 - $60,495, commensurate with experience.
