Therapy Access Analyst
Minneapolis, Minnesota

To respond quickly, accurately, and effectively to client’s (patients, payors, physician, sale force) requests for coverage and payment information related to Medtronic Neurological products and therapies. Advocate for individual patient coverage decisions via prior authorizations and the appeals process.

Responsibilities: Advocate for individual patient coverage decisions via prior authorizations and the appeals process. Maintain direct communication with Manager, Neuro Economic Managers and Medtronic sales force to impact weekly, monthly, and quarterly business goals. This includes maintenance and distribution of the prior authorization database, regular conference calls with NEM’s, etc. Proactively contact identified key accounts to answer coverage and payment questions, solve issues proactively, and introduce service of the Therapy Access Group. Answer coverage and payment questions via the toll-free Therapy Access Line utilizing research skills, problem solving skills, and sound judgment.Provide educational information on coding, billing, etc. to physicians, ambulatory surgery centers, home care agencies, hospital personnel and payors through vehicles such as conference calls, Business Manager meetings, phone calls, site visits, etc. Additional responsibilities as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements: Four-year Degree. Personal Computer skills. Knowledge of managed care and/or medical insurance industry. Self-starter.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex concepts to internal and external contacts. Demonstrated tact and diplomacy.Aptitude for learning technical information. Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem solving to make independent decisions. Flexibility in dealing with unresolved situations, delays, unexpected and changing events and requests. Demonstrated commitment to high customer service.Ability to multi-task and prioritize needs to effectively resolve customer issues. Strong problem solving skills. Ability to utilize effective influencing skills.Computer literate. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated ability and desire to maintain pro-active relationship with internal and external customer. Customer Service experience. Three to five years of work experience in the healthcare industry with either a medical device, pharmaceutical company, payer, or other related organization. Clear communications. Demonstrated teamwork skills. Strong presentation skills. Sit for extended periods or time. Extensive use of telephone. Travel by plane, train, car, etc. Based in Minneapolis. Preference: Work experience directly related to payor or provider. Specific reimbursement experience with a pharmaceutical or medical device company. Demonstrated knowledge of billing coding methodologies. Including CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 coding. Experience in a sales organization.
