Sr. Toxicologist

Our Company invites applications for the position of Sr. Toxicologist
This individual will lead the Product Safety team to support the Oral Care category. They will help develop and lead the implementation of strategy for providing technical evaluations in safety assessments for ingredients, formulas and packaging. The position requires the ability to work in a "team" environment, successfully interacting with Product Development, Legal, Regulatory and others. The individual will be able to represent Product Safety with other groups, both within and outside the Company. Examples include subsidiaries, trade associations and governmental agencies. This person will also have responsibility for supervising more junior toxicologists.
Two other key areas of responsibility will include oversight of Colgate's external research programs for alternatives/in vitro testing and managing Product Safety's role in the Corporate Vigilance program.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing strategy for assessing the safety of new ingredients
Conducting and reviewing safety assessments on new ingredients
Serving as second level reviewer for safety clearances of new products
Developing and implementing strategy on safety regulatory issues such as global product labeling issues and new regulatory restrictions on ingredients
Training and mentoring less experienced staff level toxicologists
Working closely with Colgate's global regulatory experts to develop strategy for responding to regulatory authorities, providing dossiers and regulatory submissions to support marketing approvals around the world and negotiating with regulatory authorities for decisions which favorably impact Colgate's ability to successfully market regulated products
Working closely with Legal to provide support on product liability
REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the following qualifications:
Ph.D. in Toxicology, Pharmacology or Biochemistry
10 Years of Experience in Product Safety/Toxicology with a consumer products or pharmaceutical company
At least six years experience conducting risk assessments of new chemicals/ingredients
At least three years experience preparing safety dossiers for regulatory submissions (especially FDA)
Project management skills to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:At least four years experience managing/mentoring technical staffDiplomate of the American Board of ToxicologyKnowledge of alternatives/in vitro testingAt least three yearsexperience with adverse events analysis/PharmacovigilanceProficiency in Microsoft Office products
