Sr Product Manager
Memphis, Tennessee

Responsible for coordinating product development, as well as devising and managing marketing, education, and support programs to achieve the objectives of the respective product lines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manage and direct new product development marketing activities for specific products within the respective Group, including new idea review and recommendations, concept and design development, technique development, project management and market introduction. Work closely with Development Engineering, Manufacturing, Regulatory and related departments.
Manage the existing product line specific to the Group, including recommendations for product line extensions and/or line trimming, forecasting, pricing strategies, literature/video/sales support materials, manufacturing support and customer service/operations support. Recommend positioning of products in specific markets (price, promotion, events) in coordination with US plans.
Assure that the company maximizes and optimizes its performance and operating objectives in the specific segment through identification of market trends, competitive activities and business opportunities, and through the effective development and presentation of strategic, market and product development plans.
Work with Directors to ensure that the Group is in a position of clinical and technical leadership relative to the competition through extensive field visits with key surgeons and sales consultants, regular review of the literature, participation at key meetings and conferences, and development of close professional relationships.
Work to provide high quality sales support in terms of new product/market introductions, sales training programs, key surgeon/key account field visits and regular communication, both responsive as well as proactive.
Maintain key relationships to stay on the pulse of new market opportunities. Continually push for new innovations within existing product line.
Routinely interface with the managers/directors of other product lines offered by the Company, and in the course of performing his/her duties, receive both public and confidential information regarding the Company's full line of spine surgery products to enable him/her to understand the relationship between the products for which he/she has responsibility and other spine surgery products in the Company's portfolio.

Ensure product availability and monitor forecasts as necessary throughout life of the product lines ensuring that they are as accurate and up-to-date as possible; maintain up-to-date competitive information (products, regulatory status, promotion, prices, etc).
Attend surgeries and help educate surgeons on specific products by assisting in the preparation and running of surgeon training courses which may include didactic and cadaver labs.
Coordinate activities between marketing and other functional areas to ensure product line objectives are achieved on a timely basis.
Work with a team to ensure products are properly positioned in the market utilizing creative promotional, pricing, service, and product characteristic strategies to maximize sales and profits.
Participate in sales and marketing planning activities for assigned products with field sales force, sales managers and senior management in order to identify key target, surgeons, and hospitals by specific product.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field and five to eight years of related experience, preferably in the medical device industry; or MBA and three to six years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in medical/surgical products preferred.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Proven marketing management performance within the surgical segment with a strong clinical orientation.

Technically sensitive and receptive.

A proven capacity for strategic thinking, planning, and product development.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with an existing in-place organization.

Average travel requirement is approximately 30 percent.
