Sr Legal Counsel
Santa Rosa, CaliforniaResponsible for providing legal support to the Vascular organization with specific divisional and functional responsibilities. Provide counsel, training, general and strategic legal guidance in health care law (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid compliance, including reimbursement, anti-kickback/fraud and abuse, privacy, complex provider relations). Monitor external regulatory and compliance environment to identify risks as well as opportunities for Medtronic and its business units.
Duties include the following. Provide prompt, superior legal advice and solutions to assigned Vascular division and assigned functional areas. Review, negotiate and draft contracts, including clinical, product development, consulting, distribution, supply, licensing and other commercial and operational contracts. Provide guidance with respect to regulatory matters and privacy laws affecting business. Provide support on compliance-related matters, including customer requests for support. Review marketing and promotional materials for compliance with FDA guidelines. Assist with and/or handle various special projects from time to time, including providing litigation support, assisting M&A team with due diligence in substantive areas, and managing on-going issues. Review existing vascular contracts to provide guidance on legal issues arising thereunder from time to time.This individual will be part of a group of business lawyers providing direct support to the vascular business. Extensive client contact is involved with this position.Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS
Summary of Major Requirements: KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
·Strong academic credentials and J.D. from nationally recognized law school.JOB EXPERIENCE
·7+ years legal practice, including at a major law firm.
·Experience counseling medical device or pharmaceutical industry clients
·Understanding of business objectives, strategies and tactics.
·Capable of and experienced in effectively working with senior management
·Client focus

·Experience in the practice of corporate and transactional law.
·Direct client contact.
