Senior Director, Process Research

The incumbent will be responsible for all Process Chemistry activities associated with the development of small molecule development pipeline. The qualified candidate will manage the process chemistry group in efforts directed toward synthetic route selection; process research, development and optimization of chemical processes at bench and kilo scale; and technical transfer of those processes to contract manufacturers.
- Manage Process Chemistry laboratory staff
- Oversee technical transfer of chemical processes and manufacturing at contract research and manufacturing organizations
- Prepare relevant sections of CMC regulatory submissions
- Serve as department representative on Development project teams
- Will directly supervise Process Chemistry laboratory personnel
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:
- 15+ years experience in Process Chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience working with contract manufacturers
- Experience in synthetic route selection, process optimization and scale-up of synthetic processes from gram to multi-kilogram scale (kilo lab and pilot plant).

Skills:
- Excellent command of process chemistry and scale-up concepts and techniques
- Excellent command of synthetic organic chemistry concepts and techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues as they relate to the development of pharmaceutical products
- Proven leadership skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Is able to manage multiple projects effectively. With guidance from management, effectively prioritizes objectives and goals. Exercises sound judgment within defined practices and policies in achieving goals and objectives
