Safety Specialist

Understanding of regulations pertaining to Safety (OSHA), Environmental (EPA) and pharmaceutical and diagnostics environmental is a plus. A strong safety candidate is desirable with some environmental experience but environmental experience is not a must. Company is a diagnostics company and follows cGMPs. Medical diagnostic or pharmaceutical experience is a plus.

Major Responsibilities:

Create and execute safety SOPs; Annual review of existing SOPs required; creates new Safety SOPs when required and annually review all Safety SOP's for accuracy and update changes (if required).

Investigate any incidents/accidents/near misses and prepare proper paper work; implement corrective action plans to eliminate hazards that may have created the incident

Train newly hired employees as well as train existing employees in new safety programs; also conduct annual trainings (refresher courses), as required

Perform JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and ergonomic evaluations; provides job safety reviews/assessments and review work positions/stations as required. Work towards enhancing the company's overall safety program including assessments for machine guarding, ergonomics and safety inspections

Responsible for internal company and corporate reporting

Spearhead the Safety Committee, conduct and document monthly meetings, including Safety Behavior Based program meetings and updates

Track all open safety related items to ensure corrective actions are taking place and items are closed.

Conduct safety training for all new onsite contractors and review their incident records annually

Ensure company is compliant with Federal, State, Local, and Corporate Safety regulations by coordinating/completing/managing and maintaining all safety reports and records.

Develop and maintain safety programs at MTS, while providing training to all employees and contractors. Close MAP items, addressing all MAARS audit issues, Internal audit findings, and Safety non-conformances.

Conduct safety studies and/or perform tasks involving the safety aspects and impacts of manufacturing and lab work.
Special Note: Acts as back up to Environmental Engineer.

Qualifications:A minimum of AA/AS degree with 5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment, BS/BA degree preferred. Participating in internal and external audits important; Candidate should be professional, great computer skills and a great execution. Looking for an employee who would be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with very strong communication and organizational skills. Some overtime may be required for projects (not often).Should be familiar with Federal, Florida state and local city and county requirements for safety guidelines.
