Research Associate

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research Specialist/Associate is a member of the team seeking to develop and characterize live vaccine strains against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Conducts general laboratory procedures with limited supervision, including some experiments using Good Laboratory Practice and Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2)
•Assists in the development, maintenance, and update of lab procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
•Assists in the maintenance and documentation of laboratory inventory
•Ensures the maintenance of complete and clear laboratory notebooks; generates lab progress reports
•Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

•B.S. or M.S. degree with at least five years laboratory experience in molecular biology, bacterial genetics, and cell culture
•Extensive work experience on protein expression, bacterial genetics, molecular biology, preferably with Mycobacteria.
•Aseptic handling techniques are highly desired
•Experience in PCR, immunoblots, molecular cloning, gene mutation, DNA/RNA purification, southern blot, electronic microscopy, and ELISA techniques
•Experience in or strong understanding of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
