Research Associate

Job Description: Serve as a protein/enzyme product development scientist/ research
associate in a small but dynamic interdisciplinary team. Provide
scientific and technical contribution in development of recombinant
proteins into enzymes used for DNA sequencing products. Develop and
facilitate the growth of recombinant proteins, purification
optimization, and characterization of purified enzymes for nucleic acid
modifying procedures/applications. Plan, perform and qualify various
tests, assays and reagents for optimization of enzyme's activities.
Evaluate purification procedures, assay performance (purity, activity,
performance comparisons, etc.). Determine strategic approaches to
experimental design to achieve technical objectives for purified
enzymes. Plan, develop and conduct validation experiments. Deliver
optimized and validated SOPs for transfer to manufacturing. Critically
analyze complex data, interpret and integrate experiment results with
project objectives.
Requirements:
Protein purification, characterization, and assay development experience
within the BioTechnology industry. Education requirement: BS (+ 2-5
years experience) or recent MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or
related field. Experience with producing recombinant proteins, protein
purification and analysis methods needed. Technically proficient in
general laboratory procedures (biochemistry/molecular biology),
particularly gel electrophoresis, column chromatography. Understanding
of nucleic acid applications and techniques is highly desired.
Communication (written/verbal) and team work abilities critical. Project
management experience, proficiency in nucleic acid purification and
analysis, and the evaluation of new techniques and procedures for
manufacturing reagents, products or technologies are desirable.
