Prin Software Engineer
Minneapolis, MinnesotaThe purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership in the specification, development, testing, and documentation of embedded software applications for implantable (neurostimulator and drug delivery systems) and external medical devices (programmers and instruments).
The responsibilities of this Principal Software Engineer include system design/analyses, hardware/software integration and testing, embedded software design and test / validation for class III medical devices. Tasks include: project planning, system analyses and design, requirements analyses, software design and testing, creating/approving test reports, leading design reviews and code work-through / inspections, overseeing / delegating coding, and providing technical work direction to team members and support groups to achieve project objectives. Product development under FDA regulation requires rigorous process discipline and documentation to assure functionality, safety, and reliability / quality of class III medical devices. This is an individual contributor / technical leadership position within a product development team, which will require technical, interpersonal, and leadership competencies.
REQUIREMENTS
The minimum requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science (MS preferred) and 8 years of applicable experience. Candidates must have expert knowledge of embedded system development and software test methodologies. Experience with embedded software controlled, class III medical devices is preferred. Required skills include planning and leading a small technical team in a development process; as well as significant experience with the following: embedded system design, Human Factors Engineering, Object Oriented Technology, C++, C, C#.We are currently seeking multiple individuals for Engineering opportunities throughout Medtronic.
