Duties:
Design, implement and maintain front end and back end software for internationally recognized web and Oracle based biological database system (www.PlasmoDB.org and www.ToxoDB.org). Work collaboratively on a team of approximately 20 software developers and biologist to translate scientific requirements generated by the user community into effective interfaces and data representations. Remain current on the latest Java and Web technologies and apply new knowledge to a cutting edge system. Offer leadership in web-based front and design and implementation decisions. Participate in the preparation of scientific papers and technical documentation. Opportunity for participation in computational biology research for suitably motivated individual.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field required (Master's highly preferred for Sr. level); 2 - 3 years of programming experience (5 - 6 years for Sr. level) in web interface / back end design and development required. Detailed knowledge of UNIX, Java, JavaScript, Perl, JSP, Struts, AJAX, web services, SQL, Tomcat and Apache and are all highly desirable. An active interest in bioinformatics and genomics applications is highly desirable an experience a strong plus. Position contingent upon funding. Background Check Required.
