PI/QA Coordinator - Infection Control

Responsible for Infection Control - The Performance Improvement/Quality Analyst (PI/QA) Coordinator's duties include but are not limited to the operation of the Risk Management, Performance Improvement, and JCAHO compliance functions. Other responsibilities include screening for blood utilization, mortaility review, and other review or report preparation within the scope of the policy and procedures of the hospital, including data collection for physician profiling, the PSH Dashboard, and ORYX reporting , National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures. The position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Plaza Specialty Hospital is an acute long-term hospital founded in 1994 with just 16 beds. Today Plaza Specialty Hospital has grown in to a 65-bed acute long-term hospital providing continuum of care to patients from the Texas Medical Center and beyond the Houston metropolitan area, as well as, Texas and surrounding states.

We are located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the North Building within Park Plaza Hospital. We are a hospital within a hospital. This affords us advantages of a short-term major acute care hospital yet allows the benefits of a smaller, more individualized hospital setting. Plaza Specialty Hospital patients have multiple medical needs and require extensive medical care and/or rehabilitation for an extended length of time. Our medical staff includes a comprehensive array of primary care physicians and specialists.

Plaza Specialty Hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). We accept Medicare, private insurance, and managed care policies.

REQUIREMENTS
RN Preferred. BLS required. Minimum proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word preferred. Working knowledge of JCAHO, CMS, and TMF regulatory guidelines is also preferred. Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of PI tools and technique.

Infection Control experience required.

3-5 years of hospital/long term acute care experience required with a minimum of 1 year in PI/QA activities. Leadership experience preferred. Experience with JCAHO standards and survey processes preferred. Good oral and written communication skills required.
