Job Description
Reporting directly to the Manager, Cell Customs, the Operations Technican will be responsible for manufacturing and assembly of products used in clinical research including operation of production equipment, maintaining records, and research laboratory environment to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures. May assist with in process testing to assure batches meet specifications.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assists in processing cell custom requests including determining feasibility, isolation procedure, and cost.
Assists in screening and evaluating cell cultures.
Perform isolations of specific cell types from human and animal tissues.
Maintain, passage, and cryopreserve cell cultures.
Produce proliferating cells as needed.
Utilize aseptic technique in product handling.
Perform isolations in a Laminar Flow Biological Safety Cabinet.
Maintain lab in good working order, which includes operation and maintenance of equipment (centrifuges, microscopes, water baths, dewars, and incubators).
Prepare media and other materials used in production processes.
Orders chemicals and lab ware when levels drop below critical level.
Writes and updates SOPs as required.
Maintains records as required including cleaning logs, cell custom request log, etc.
Performs daily lab cleaning including removal of regular and autoclavable trash from lab, removal of tissue for incineration, and the deposit of paper and cardboard recyclables.
Assists in training new technicians, Technical Service Representatives, customers, and distributors as required.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field with 1-2 years cell culture/biology experience or an AA degree with 2-3 years cell culture/biology experience or a H.S. diploma or equivalent with 4-6 years cell culture/biology experience.
Lab experience desired; preferably, experience working with cell culture.
Written and oral communication to include accurate and legible documentation skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, team oriented, independent work skills and a strong work ethic.
Microsoft Office and RenCS database management, organization skills, record keeping and multiple projects excellent time management skills desired.
