Business Development Manager - Pharma

DESCRIPTION

The Business Development Manager in SAFC's Pharma unit is responsible for the development of new sales as well as the maintenance and growth of existing sales in the pharmaceutical sector for SAFC. This person is the primary customer regional contact for all of SAFC Pharma and is accountable and responsible for SAFC Pharma's regional sales growth goals. The position will concentrate on developing new and existing custom business within this region. The person is expected to handle a mixture of existing, later phase custom business as well as the development of new business from the emerging pharma segment.

The person is expected to be technically competent with the API development process, knowledgeable about cGMP compliance, and capable of promoting all of the scientific services of SAFC's custom facilities associated with Pharma ' API development.

The person is responsible for the care and maintenance at high satisfaction and sales levels of existing SAFC Pharma relationships

The person is responsible for the review and analysis of most current information and the subsequent development of a strategy for management, penetration, and future relationship development of all potential customers within the region

This person is responsible for handling all details associated with business closure of high-value complex projects. Specific areas of responsibility:

-Finalizing appropriate contractual terms for quotation. Ensuring quotations are priced, submitted and closed.
-Monitoring progress of orders and communication with customers in conjunction with the project management team.
-Ensuring contact and overall relationship health is maintained with existing customers.
-This person is responsible for reporting the region's monthly sales projections, development of the new customer base, and annual sales forecasts.

This person is responsible for maintenance of their professional currency and knowledge by preparing for and attending relevant industry exhibitions and events.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and / or experiences:

Advanced degree in chemistry or related field is preferred. Candidates of a lower degree, with 3+ yrs prior experience in drug discovery or process development will also be given consideration.

Prior business development / sales / customer-relationship experiences within a Pharma environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building positive, productive, internal and external relationships.
Outstanding communication skills; written, spoken, and listening.
Strong analytical, financial, and commercial skills.
Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and CRM software.
Specific Regional Qualification: This person will focus business development efforts primarily within the Southwestern US / Southern California region.
Candidates not currently residing in the Southwest are expected to maintain a considerable personal presence within the region.
