INFECTION CONTROL RN

Under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Physician Director of Infection Control and the Infection Control Committee, the Infection Control Nurse establishes and implements guidelines directed toward the prevention, detection and control of infectious processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Establishes a hospital wide Infection Control Program in collaboration with the Infection Control Committee.
2. Coordinates the review and assessment of all written standards within the hospital pertaining to infection control. 3. Coordinates for the provision of Infection Control Provision educational programs in collaboration with the department directors.
4. Submits regular statistical reports to the Infection Control and other hospital committees regarding surveillance activities, items for review and possible action for improvement.
5. Ensures the reporting of reportable diseases to the Health Department and serves as liaison to the Health Department in implementing immunization programs and disseminating educational materials and alerts.
6. Organizes data efficiently with timely reporting to the Medical Staff, Infection Control, and Safety, Performance Improvement Committees and other individuals and groups as appropriate.
7. Manages all activities, processes and protocols related to pandemic emergencies, assists with Emergency Management planning and implementation.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
REQUIRED: Registered Nurse, BSN or masters in nursing or related field preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: REQUIRED: R.N. PREFERRED: Certification as Infection Control Professional (CIC). EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
REQUIRED: 1 to 2 years experience in Hospital Infection Control PREFERRED: 3 to 5 years experience in Hospital Infection Control.
