Equipment Specialist (3931BR)

This position would serve a research equipment support role, with additional responsibilities for training implementation, documentation, and cross regional servicing program management. There are multiple areas where this position can handle centralized planning and coordination activities, such as equipment capital planning.Directly responsible for the development and implementation of advanced research equipment technology support within and among regions including on-call support during planting and harvest seasons. This position will be responsible for fulfilling a team role with other Equipment Specialists and will be assigned primary locations to support.
Training coordination including development of advanced online training, scheduling training with vendors and traveling to and delivering training for on-site training sessions at research locations.Planting and harvest usage summary and operating report coordination. This position will utilize data and analyses to determine servicing intervals, equipment replacement, and capacity utilization and needs. This position will be responsible for maintaining updated checklists, monitor servicing schedules, implementation, compliance with checklists and servicing at centers for all NA RESTS Equipment.Documentation and service bulletin compilation and coordination. This position will be responsible for updating and keeping all documentation and service bulletins posted to the RESTS web site. Weekly updates including FAQ updates during planting and harvest seasons will be compiled and communicated.
Incorporates and remains current on new and emerging equipment technology by participating in professional meetings, career development activities, and by encouraging others to bring information into research equipment activities. Maintain depth of knowledge of all research areas supported by RESTS Team including multiple-crop and NRSP equipment priorities and initiatives.
Serves on cross functional and / or cross departmental teams and committees to improve research equipment processes and efficiencies. Serves as a member of the Equipment Specialist Team.Recruit, hire, orient, direct and evaluate employee performance. Assure performance plans and goals are established. Promote effective and accurate workmanship and a positive work environment. Implement and monitor safe working practices.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Ag, Engineering or any related area of Agriculture with at least 5 years of experience required; Master's Degree preferred.Candidates with an appropriate combination of relevant, equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Candidates need extensive experience with farming equipment. Experience with research field plot equipment also preferred.Excellent project management and highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate will have the motivation and initiative to make challenging projects successful as well as the skills to lead cross-functional teams. Good problem identification or equipment diagnosis skills. Problem investigation and resolution skills. Skilled in obtaining needed information from clients.
