TITLE:Environmental Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:Manage chemical waste for proper method of accumulation and disposal. Ensure full compliance with all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to the proper management of chemical management activities at Sierracin.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Responsible to properly consolidate the chemical waste streams and complies with federal, state and local regulations.
?Empty 5 gallons plastic buckets of solid, liquid, and sludge material in the designated waste drum. Turn over the buckets and let them dry in the designated area.
?Empty chemical bottles and chemical cans. Empty chemical bottles must be crushed with the glass crusher and Empty chemical cans must be crushed with the can crusher that is located in the designated area.
?Respond to chemical waste releases in the facility using appropriate clean-up and safety methods.
?Inspect and keep daily inspection log of the chemical waste area. Maintain excellent house keeping in the chemical waste area
?Empty 55gal drums of production trash waste periodically into the Non-RCRA Hazardous Waste Roll-Off Bin.
?Monitor and maintain daily records of clarifiers for pH and dissolved sulfides. Replace roll of chart paper in the pH meter of the clarifiers every month.
?Replace 10% Hydrogen Peroxide 5 gal Pail as needed from 3-4 days.
?Maintain records of pH, Temperature and Flow meter readings of cooling towers. Keep clean the cooling towers and storm drains.
?Inspect and maintain records of eyewash and emergency shower stations.
?Complete Monthly storm water discharge observations document.
?Maintain records of the flow meter readings of Process wastewater flow from the facility.
?Take responsibility of all aspects of chemical waste storage handling area from disposal to containment and emergency response.
REQUIREMENTS
DUCATION/TRAINING:High school graduate or Trade education
Hazardous Waste Operation & Emergency Response training (40 hr)
DOT Manifest training
Respiratory Protection training
Forklift Certification
Personal Protective Equipment training

EXPERIENCE:0 - 1 year of applicable experience and training. Familiar with federal, state and local regulations.
