DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

This West Coast company specializes in providing animal tissues to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Products may be bovine, porcine, ovine, caprine, or cervidae in origin. This company provides polyclonal antiserum and measuring controls to the diagnostics industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
*Directs and supervises department managers to ensure cooperative efforts in meeting corporate and departmental goals and objectives.
*Facilitates interdepartmental communications and cooperation by overseeing team and task force activities with emphasis on Production Planning and Design Review teams.
*Assigns task force, team and project leaders, and is ultimately responsible for team activities and task completion in a timely manner.
*Assists V. P. in providing department budgets, which includes capital/material budgets.
*Capability to respond to continuously changing customer and market demands.
*Works to increase production and improve the quality of company's products in addition to coordinating resources to support new contract opportunities for OEM reagents.
*JIT Inventory.
*Prepares administrative reports.
*Manages subordinate managers who supervise employees in all operational functions.
*Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of units.
*Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies.
*Interview, hiring, and training of employees.
*Planning, assigning, and directing work.
*Appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
*Meet or exceed revenue projections.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

*Master's degree or equivalent in Immunology, Biology or Chemistry.
*Minimum of 8 yrs. Experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology fields utilizing skill sets found above.
*Ability to supervise multiple departments as well as teams w/ in Dept.
*Ability to interpret and present to top management effectively on controversial or complex issues.
*Ability to lead, work well with others as well as be a good listener.
