Clinical Laboratory Scientist

ProGene Biomedical, Inc. is a growing, diversified biotechnology company located in Lenexa, Kansas conducting business as IBT Reference Laboratory. This national research and specialty clinical lab was founded in 1983 and provides unique allergy & immunology testing services to physicians, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, universities, diagnostic manufacturers and other labs throughout the U.S.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) performs laboratory testing; preventive maintenance; troubleshooting; calibration of equipment; quality control procedures; and is responsible for the validity of test results.

Duties/Responsibilities:
This position will work Tuesday - Saturday daytime hours.
Perform lab tests exercising independent judgment and responsibility.
Perform quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and procedures; making judgments concerning results and taking appropriate action to maintain accuracy.
Evaluate and solve problems related to processing of specimens for analysis.
Adhere to internal controls established for the department
Ensure all tests are performed in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
Calibrate, standardize, and maintain test equipment and instruments, following established procedures.
Maintain inventory of reagents and other supplies
Prepare reagents
Set a positive example by maintain a productive and cooperative working atmosphere.
Demonstrate effective teamwork skills by sharing information and knowledge
Actively participate in process improvement initiatives.
Accepts, completes and reports on special assignments within the agreed upon timeframe.

Education/Experience/Training Requirements:
IBT is looking for the right individual to grow with this organization and dept. Any of the following combinations would meet our requirements:

BA/BS in Biological Science and greater than 2 years exp
BS in Biological Science with MT certification and greater than 1 year exp required
Associates degree with MLT certification plus 2 years experience required
MS in Biological Science with greater than 2 years directly related experience.
Ability/willingness to work a Tuesday - Saturday daytime hour position.
