As an Underwriting Assistant, you’ll be responsible for all loans that have been underwritten. Perform a variety of other post-underwriting tasks such as ordering MI, investor approval, Quality Control audits, field reviews, and completes verbal verification of employment. You will serve as the primary contact for all status calls and questions during the underwriting process.ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Review and sign off various conditions (prior to document and funding) through the automated underwriting system. Communicates all changes of status to the brokers.Review, prepare, and submit all files for loan documents. This includes the stacking of the entire file, completion of the document checklist, verification of lock parameters and adjustments, ordering of the flood certification, and obtaining brokers’ fees and borrowers’ vesting. Responsible for working the Pipeline Exception Report two times a week. Communications with the broker and account executive must be updated on F2 comments within Mortgageflex along with current status code data.Responsible for all loan files after initial underwriting, including the faxing of the 1008/1003 corrections, faxing QLP’s to secondary marketing, ordering mortgage insurance, investor approval, quality control audits, and field reviews. Responsible for system updates and completion of F-2 comments.
Maintain consistent and effective communication with brokers, account executives, and HFN associates. Responds to all voice and e-mail messages within one hour.Participate in the Underwriting conference calls including the Bi-Monthly National Underwriting and Bi-Monthly Western Region Underwriting conference calls.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma
3 years investment grade mortgage lending experience
2 years experience in loan processing in wholesale environment.
PC skills required, MS Windows environment- MS Word, Excel, and mortgage industry applications.
Previous experience working with Mortgageflex is desireable.
Familiarity with industry-standard underwriting practices.
Excellent oral, written, and listening communications skills.
Independent decision making ability.
Previous experience working in a fast paced setting
Effectively analyze and problem solve.
Manage multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
