Full Job Title: Systems Engineer - Network Services - 5 Skills Management Title Systems EngineeringJob Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Integrated Defense Systems (IDS)Job Description: Systems engineer for the Wideband Networking Waveform (WNW) IPT of the Joint Tactical Radio System Ground Mobile Radio Program developing the next generation radio system for the US Military and integrating various legacy systems into the WNW. The selected candidate will lead the Network Services Layer Team (NSL) developing, integrating, testing and delivering the Network Services functionality of the WNW waveform. Participate in all phases of development from systems engineering requirements definition, integration and analysis, to software development, integration, test and verification and validation, peer reviews and sell-off. Responsibilities may include selection and implementation of new WNW NSL technologies, design of new network protocols, system/hardware/software trade studies, evaluating new security schemes, generating and modifying specifications as needed, and compiling and tracking metrics. Position also requires ability to support the preparation of Request for Proposal (RFPs) governing the development of a waveform for the WNW environment, managing awarded subcontracts in technical scope, schedule and cost, and interfacing with other team members and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives. Ability to work in a multi-contractor, Boeing led team environment coordinating activities within the WNW IPT and across program IPTs (Software, Hardware, Systems and Integration, Test and Evaluation) is required. Candidate must be motivated and adapt well to a fast-paced and quickly changing environment. Candidate will be an active participant in customer briefings, internal team and management meetings/briefings (status, technical performance, cost/schedule performance). Selected candidate must meet eligibility requirements for a Secret Security Clearance. Active Secret clearance preferred. Travel will be required to interface with customers and teammates. Competencies A strong systems and IP networking background is required. Experience in networking, especially in routing, QoS, and queuing theory, is preferred. A background in security architecture/Information Assurance is preferred. Candidate is also expected to be able to make informed recommendations and sound engineering judgments on the types and technical depth of tradeoffs, studies, analyses, simulations, development and test activities, and work share between Boeing and multiple subcontractors, in view of schedule and cost constraints. The position requires strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along with horizontal integration skills. An understanding of specification trees and the requirements flow down process is required. A familiarity with DOORS database management system and experience with military tactical radio systems is preferred. Familiarity with risk management procedures and associated tools, earned value management systems and project scheduling is expected. Understanding of principles of networking, time-critical applications and embedded operating systems is required. Applicant should be familiar with technical analysis/evaluation techniques, problem isolation and troubleshooting, software development, documentation generation, and have a working knowledge of engineering processes.
