Supervisor-Classifications, Vastera-Tampa

A supervisor is responsible for analysis of international trade data, rules and regulations. This position will work with internal contacts and Clients to provide data guidance and expertise to implant and maintain processes.



Core Responsibilities/Requirements:



Manage international trade data, such as Harmonized Tariff Schedules, Customs Rules & Regulations, Trade Documentation, and Export & Import restrictions.

Provide outstanding customer service to external clients and partners.

Team with Customs Brokers to implement/maintain JPMorgan Chase Vastera's processes throughout clients' Customs operations.

Work with departments across JPMorgan Chase Vastera to provide trade expertise - Product Engineering & Management, Quality Assurance, Sales and Consulting.

Act in a supervisory capacity and provide direction to the analysts on your team.

May have internal/external communication requirements with Clients.

Contribute to customer satisfaction through positive interaction with the client, responsiveness to requests, attention to schedules, and high quality work.

Work under the direction of Manager or Functional Lead to resolve any issues.

Escalate to Manager any issue that you cannot resolve.

Support and adhere to the Quality Operating System by understanding the relevance of current job activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.

Help perform process and business case analysis for project(s).

Define, design, develop, test and implement trade solutions.

Provide mentoring and input to management for performance evaluations for the Staff Trade Analysts and Trade Analysts working under your direction.

Prepare action registers and submit to Manager for the process work under your control

Track and control all financial aspects of any project or trade initiative for which you are responsible. This includes ensuring all expenses, travel costs, etc. are submitted/approved timely and within budget.:

Ensure that all expenses receive prior approval from your manager

Monitor the quality level for all aspects of a project for which you are responsible and ensure that any quality issues are addressed and resolved by your team

Escalate to your Manager any issues which you cannot resolve or which require Executive Management involvement.

Scope of Influence & Control:

Supervisor will work with peers and other internal contacts to analyze and interpret data, and work with Clients to manage and resolve expectations. This position will work independently with little direction. This job can provide direct management to Trade Analysts and Staff Trade Analysts. This job does not have direct financial responsibility.
REQUIREMENTS


Technical Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Knowledge of Import/Export Trade Compliance elements (i.e. HTS codes, Export Classification Commodity Numbers, etc.)

Knowledge of ocean/air/border Customs operations

Understanding of relational databases (SQL)

Microsoft Suite (strong Access and Excel skills)



Education/Experience Requirements:

Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Additional language a plus

Customs Broker License preferred

Demonstrated analytical skills

Strong customer service skills
