Specific Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the Mortgage Bank general ledger reconciliation process, including review, approval, and tracking of all account reconciliations to ensure they meet department standards. Review and approval of Mortgage Bank journal entries and accounts payable vouchers. Participation in system implementations to ensure strong internal control and appropriate accounting flow. Oversight of trust accounting to ensure compliance with all related agreements, accurate and timely recording of related journal entries and initiation of wire transfers, and adequate documentation for management and auditors. Oversight of imprest account processes.

Specific Expected Contributions

1. Review, approval, and tracking of general ledger account reconciliations to ensure they are completed in a timely and effective manner in compliance with department standards.
2. Review and approval of Mortgage Bank journal entries and accounts payable vouchers to ensure adequate backup is attached and accounting is correct. Mark journal entries to post in PeopleSoft system.
3. Actively participate in system implementations to ensure strong internal control and appropriate accounting flow.
4. Oversight of trust accounting to ensure compliance with all related agreements, accuracy of service reports, timeliness of journal entries, appropriate reconciliation of trust bank accounts, and accurate general ledger balances for related accounts.
5. Oversight of imprest checking account processes to ensure accuracy of accounting good internal control, and adequate support.
6. Preparation of complex general ledger and bank account reconciliations.
7. Research of reconciling items, requiring understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, knowledge of accounting and reporting systems, and interaction with various departments.
8. Preparation of correcting entries.
9. Responsibility for buyback accounting journal entries and reconciliation of buyback general ledger account.
10. Developing procedures for the mortgage bank accounting processes of our joint venture projects.
11. Complete special projects as requested.
12. Respond to inquiries from FARS and sites as needed.
13. Act as backup for Accounting Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS
Specific Candidate Profile

1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, preferred or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum 4 years experience in related area, including managerial experience.
3. Strong knowledge of Excel required, Sequoia, and PeopleSoft experience preferred.
4. Excellent analytical and organizational abilities.
5. Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
6. Superior verbal and written communication skills a must.
7. Ability to work well in a team environment.
