The position will lead a risk management team to support the profitable growth of the $27Bln Sears credit business by continually identifying opportunities to improve activation and profitability risk for new account acquisitions. This position will drive risk assessment for product growth initiatives and play a key role in validating existing criteria and maximizing portfolio profitability.
This position will partner with cross-functional teams to develop new products, market segments and delivery channels to provide growth opportunities for the business. It will direct and prioritize the activities of a Risk Management team, providing strategic vision and leadership to achieve business objectives. In addition, the position will be responsible for interacting with Risk COE and O&T on implementation and execution of Risk Policies with interaction with senior management team and the partner.
Specific duties of the position include but not limited to:
Developing, testing, and optimizing acquisition credit policies for the Sears portfolio including full accountability for implementation of those policies & processes
Tracking and reporting of all acquisition initiatives and reporting performance results to senior management on a timely basis
Developing and maintaining the data infrastructure to support all acquisition initiatives
Preparing and presenting the acquisition risk review to senior business managers on a monthly basis
Contributing to the execution of business strategy through management of key business projects.
Establishing solid cross-functional partnerships and networks to contribute and execute cross-functional and business initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have 4+ years in financial services experience, preferably in a large, sophisticated credit granting or risk management organization within a major consumer card, financial services, retailing or consulting business. Experience will have been gained in high volume, medium-to high-risk environments, where risk assessment, technological sophistication, and data mining techniques are critical to their success. This individual will bring a strong analytical orientation, an appreciation for broad-based risk issues and a familiarity with operations. This person will have a demonstrated record of performance including responsibility for balanced portfolio growth and profitability in a sophisticated, fast-paced consumer credit environment. This experience is complimented by excellent overall business judgment.
Other qualifications include:
A BS/BA in a quantitative discipline (MS/MBA preferred);
Strong organization skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment managing multiple projects
Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytic skills (e.g. segmentation, regression, or simulations)
Previous experience managing people as well as hands on analysis.
Proficiency in programming skills (SQL, SAS and advanced spreadsheet skills) required.
