SQL Server DBA

The position is a Database Support position (DBA) on the Chicago Technology Center Database Management team. This team is responsible for the systems support and management of customer application database environments. Position responsibilities include all aspects of database management and support in a dynamic production environment tracking to customer service level agreements. Key areas of service delivery include managing the environment for high availability and performance requiring precise execution of systems installations, upgrades, on-going administration and problem resolution. The install base includes 300+ database server instances supporting 4000+ databases. Candidate should be a senior level person with extensive experience supporting SQL Server with MYSQL experience a plus.
REQUIREMENTS
Extensive experience in a 7x24 high availability environment

Effective problem solving skills - must be able to work with client management and peers as necessary to resolve issues

Continuous improvement focus to continually review clients’ database environments with a standing goal of improving upon existing operations

Possess a technical background with an ability to effectively interface with cross-functional teams (server administrators, storage administrators, client application developers, etc)

Excellent oral and written communication skills – must be comfortable communicating with customers, management as well as technical peers

A customer service attitude is essential

Team player attitude is critical

Excellent functional understanding and familiarity with database monitoring and capacity management tools

Possess a good functional understanding of MS Windows Server technology

MYSQL support experience is a plus.

Ability to travel when required



Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related major or comparable work experience
