This position is responsible for the analysis of diverse financial and monetary reports and their associated reserve impacts. The incumbent is exposed to confidential and sensitive information that contributes to the monetary aggregates and other Federal Reserve Board publications. The resulting data and explanations are used by a variety of public and private entities including the Board of Governors, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Department of the Treasury, depository institutions in the Twelfth District, and external financial analysts.

Principal responsibilities of the position include:
# ensuring the timely processing and transmission of accurate financial, economic, and regulatory report data;
# demonstrating a moderate (Level I) or comprehensive (Level II) understanding of banking terminology and accounting concepts;
# analyzing report data and drafting concise, well written explanations;
# responding clearly and knowledgeably to client requests for information;
# testing (Level I) and/or supporting the implementation of changes (Level II) to automated utilities in a mainframe or PC environment;
# documenting data quality concerns for Statistics’ management;
# assisting in special data quality and ad hoc automation projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Reports Analyst I:
# B.A./B.S., with emphasis in economics, banking or statistics, or equivalent related experience;
# six months to one year experience in a related field;
# proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet and other PC software, as well as with email and the internet;
# demonstrated analytical and writing skills;
# excellent communication abilities; and
# a demonstrated aptitude to respond quickly and productively in a dynamic environment characterized by tight deadlines.

Reports Analyst II: All of the above, plus
# one to two years experience in a related field;
# extensive knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet and other PC software, a familiarity with web-authoring software (such as FrontPage98) and a working knowledge of statistical software (such as SAS);
# an established ability to independently resolve complex banking and regulatory reporting issues.
