I) Position SummaryThe Relationship Lender is responsible for helping to meet department goals for number and dollar amounts of loans closed. This will be accomplished by underwriting and closing loan applications referred by approved referral sources in conjunction with the closing of their loans or as a “stand alone” referral for a loan. This job will also emphasize development and maintenance of referral relationships.II) Major Areas of AccountabilityA. Participating in achievement of department goals for number and dollar of closed loans, this will be accomplished by recognizing and acting on upsell and cross-sell opportunities, including TCF deposit relationships.B. Underwriting loan applications received from referral sources associated with the Special Lending Unit.C. Conveying all approval terms and conditions to the referring source and verifying that all approval conditions related to these approvals are met before closing.D. Helping to coordinate closings for the loans with the various title companies and assisting the loan processor in package delivery.E. Ensuring that credit quality and compliance issues are maintained per TCF policy.F. Work with TCF Mortgage Corporation underwriters to help them recognize opportunities for TCF credit products. Solicit TCF Mortgage Corporation loan officers for referrals.G. Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources both inside and outside the company.H. Attend outside meetings with potential and current referral sources with the intention of developing additional business.
III) Minimum QualificationsEducationRequired:High school diploma or equivalent experience of 2-3 years in the lending industry.Preferred:Four year college degreeWork ExperienceRequired:One year or more experience with underwriting mortgages or consumer loans.
