Portfolio Management Operations Manager
Title: Senior Commercial Credit Analyst
Reports to: Manager, Credit Analysis Unit
LOCATION: LOWER YONKERS, NY ( Westchester County)
SALARY 55-65K,
EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of commercial banking experience as a commercial credit analyst or analyst trainee, or some comparable combination of education and experience.
A senior analyst should have demonstrated the ability to work independently and handle complex credits.
PURPOSE
Responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of a high quality, low risk loan portfolio, primarily through analyzing the financial statements, credit reports, and other pertinent information concerning present and potential borrowers and guarantors.
KEY RESULT AREAS
vQuality Credit analysis in writing and verbally
vAnalysis of total or a portion of portfolio
vProvide guidance for Credit Analysts and Credit Analyst Trainee
Ø Perform profitability analyses for customers with borrowing relationships
Ø Spread and analyze business and personal financial statements in conjunction with producing a full credit analysis write-up
Principal Responsibilities
Ø Obtain and evaluate credit reports and investigative data, including Dun & Bradstreet reports, TRW reports, bank references, trade references, trade references, and selected asset verification
Ø Respond to credit inquiries from external parties
Ø Review loan agreement covenants for compliance & existing loan documentation in the process of preparing an analysis of an existing borrower
Ø Produce written credit analyses consistent with a common format and policy, which exhibit the following characteristics:
ð Develop the appropriate loan structure and pricing, given a borrower's industry, business cycles, specific financing needs, overall risk potential, and potential credit problems; make recommendations to mitigate risk
ðSpecific analysis of an explanation for financial statement line items indicative of significant trends or changes from prior performance
ðIdentification of relevant critical contingencies extrapolated from present data (i.e., "What if" discussions)
ðProduce in a timely manner, given the submission of all relevant information
ØProvide direction and input for Credit Analysts and Credit Analyst Trainees in performing all of the above responsibilities
ØProvide, upon request, brief verbal summaries of specific loan requests and reasons for specific recommendations
ØAssist in implementing commercial loan policies & participate in educational and informational activities and conferences relating to commercial lending topics
GENERAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
ØGeneral accounting knowledge with ability to objectively analyze financial statements and prepare cash flow projections
Øability to make clear and concise verbal & written presentations, both on an individual and group basis
Øpersonal computer skills and familiarity with popular word processing and spreadsheet programs
Øgeneral knowledge of a commercial bank's structure and lending operations
Øfamiliarity with pertinent regulatory requirements
Ømaintain effectiveness in an environment with frequent deadlines, priority changes, and significant workloads
Øability to work on more than one project at a time
Øpossess a reasonable understanding of current social, political, industry, and economic conditions and expectations and be able to use this knowledge in preparing credit analysis
Ødemonstrate diligence, integrity, courtesy, honesty, and confidentiality in all Bank activities
Øpossess full understanding of loan policies and procedures
Øability to act as an effective mentor for Credit Analysts and Credit Analyst Trainees
