Plating Tank Operator A Skills Management Title

Job Level: NONEXEMPTBusiness Component: Commercial Airplanes (BCA)Job Description: Perform any electroplating operations to surface parts and materials with cadmium, zinc, nickel or copper. Develop setups for electroplating operations in which processing time, voltage, amperage and blockoffs have not been charted and record information for future use. Competencies Associated Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Determine from blueprints or process charts amount of buildup necessary and surfaces to be masked. 2. Maintain chemical strength and proper level of solution in tanks as specified. 3. Select processing time, voltage and amperage by calculating surface area to be plated. 4. Select electrodes and determine spacing of parts in tanks. 5. Check parts for cleanliness and proper surface. 6. Tin dip parts and materials. 7. Test plating to determine adherence, thickness, quality, surface coverage, and specified buildup. 8. Lead, work with and pass on information to lower classified employees.
