Part-Time, Medical Underwriter

As an underwriter, you will evaluate applicants for life and disability insurance applications with the goal of maintaining competitive mortality results. Accept or decline risks for the company through assessment of the proposed insured’s health history via consistent application of knowledge of medical impairments, corporate medical underwriting policies and collaboration with the Unit Manager.

job Requirements



Bachelor’s degree in business or other underwriting related field

Proven self-starter with proficiency in various insurance programs and computer systems

Proficient in Window based software, comparable to Excel or Word software

Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and communication skills with strong emphasis on customer service

Minimum five years in underwriting life and disability insurance applications

Good time management skills

Knowledgeable in medical underwriting and MIB code system

Positive job attitude

Ability to work well with others; particularly effective in problem solving HSBC Compensation
