Operational Risk Management - VP / Associate – Basel II

Our client, a Major Commercial and Investment Bank with offices in New York City, will be hiring a VP/Associate, Operational Risk Manager with 3 + years’ at a major financial services firm.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective operational risk strategies, as well as experience in meeting and reporting on Basel II regulatory requirements. The bank is offering a starting salary up to $110K plus a bonus.


Major Responsibilities:
•Monitor and maintain bank regulatory compliance under Basel II requirements, and on-going development of their industry best practice operational risk management
•Continually develop and implement advances in approaches to measure and determine economic and regulatory capital for operational risk issues, and report to management throughout the organization, identifying risks, data quality and including pertinent analysis and commentary
•Develop and maintain transparency, awareness and accountability for risks, losses or operational inefficiencies; adhere to strict process integrity while achieving cost optimizations; monitor and improve loss data capture process; develop/enhance Key Risk Indicator (KRI) framework working in conjunctions with business and support units; monitor and take steps to achieve process improvements and mitigate risks; development of Operational Risk IT platform for loss capture and action managementJob Requirements
•3 + years’ experience as in Operational Risk Management at a major financial services firm
•Experience in Basel II regulatory compliance and reporting; Operational Risk IT platform issues; KRI framework, risk mitigation and process improvement
•Excellent IT skills – Excel, Access and trading platforms
•BA/BS, Business/Finance major – Postgraduate degree a plus
