Network Engineer
The Network Analyst role is to provide technical support for routers, switches and associated network hardware, ensuring that strict network and systems technical performance specifications and customer expectations are met or exceeded.
-MUST be very hands on Sniffer and Multicasting
-Involved with the Level 3 and Network Engineering teams to ensure seamless, integration of new network components and systems.
-Provide technical implementation and support functions including on-call services within Network Services group for regional LAN/WAN network-related matters.
-Accountable for adhering to Change Management process for network related changes / incidents consistent with Global processes to meet service expectations.
-Accountable for problem determination, troubleshooting and resolution of network and IP related problems through use of network diagnostic tools such as Network analyzers and probes to "debug" the network.
-Participates in the improvement of support processes, subject matter expertise, and technical capabilities within the Network Service Delivery team.
-Participate in the evaluation, implementation and support of complex network hardware topologies designed by Network Engineering staff as required, on a project-by-project basis.
REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor degree preferred.
* CISCO Certification: CCNA, CCNP or equivalent working experience (min 4 years).
* Minimum 4-5 years experience supporting an extensive multi-vendor network (LAN/WAN/MAN) environment. Some knowledge of server OS and hardware support.
Preferred Qualifications
-Ability to demonstrate superior insight and skills adeptness on a specialized network technology such as: a. High Availability Network Platforms (Cisco Catalyst Router, Switches); b. IP Routing / Switching; c. Multicast; d. Load Sharing; e. HSRP; f. VPN's; g. IP Telephony; h. All protocols related to LAN, MAN and WAN technologies.
-Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal and project leadership. Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a strong orientation towards customer service.
-Experience with the following technologies: a. Topologies: Switched Ethernet (10/100/1000 mbps), Frame Relay, ATM.; b. Routers / Switches - Cisco Routers (7500, 7200, 3700, 2600 series), Cisco Switches (3500, 3700, 4500, 6509, MSFC, PFS); c. Cisco CE's, SAN's, VOIP etc.; d. Protocols: (TCP/IP - ARP, FTP, TFTP, Traceroute, Ping); e. Wide Area Routing Protocols: ISDN, Frame Relay, Point to Point, RIPv1, RIPv2, OSPF, BGP-4, SNMP (V1/V2) and RMON (V1/V2); f. Nortel Connectivity RAS / VPN infrastructures (TACACS, Radius, ACE Server); g. Security: knowledge of VPN-1 and FW-1 (checkpoint, Netscreen platforms) including troubleshooting; h. Network Security (Policies, Proxies, Authentication, etc); i. Security encryption (VPN tunneling); j. Analysis tools: Network Analyzers (DSS RMON Pro; Portable sniffer), Netcom Systems, Cisco Works; k. Monitoring Tools: Netcool, HPOV.
