Standard & Poor's Quantitative Analytics, Center of Excellence (QCoE) is responsible for establishing the analytical momentum for the QCoE by developing cutting edge quantitative analytics, tools and models for internal use and external commercialization. This group is actively recruiting for a Managing Director Project Execution.
The Managing Director manages quantitative modeling project teams that are focused on model development for various business units. The selected candidate is also responsible for defining project priorities and for determining the best technical solution to the business unit's problem. He or she will manage a team that is responsible for all project dimensions including project definition, scope, ownership, accountabilities and project staffing. The Managing Director works to establish and maintain relationships with business unit leaders, establish credibility and secure necessary resources, as well as oversee how the business unit's Quantitative Analyst's work is structured and assure that the business unit's needs are taken care of. The MD ensures that the business unit understands what the QCoE team is capable of doing. This role is ultimately responsible for building a state-of-the-art quantitative business solutions unit that supports the product development, service delivery, product sales and published ratings needs of CMS.
This role will provide thought leadership on all relevant points. The team's priorities will be driven by the business unit's needs and the MD will manage the group with a commitment to high quality and responsive service. A key goal is to build a reputation for S&P as a true center of quantitative analytical excellence.
REQUIREMENTS
Strong technical expertise in quantitative analysis and a deep knowledge of credit markets with a Ph.D. in Finance, Mathematics, Physics or similar applicable disciplines Minimum of 7 years experience in a financial services environment Understanding of the core S&P credit default probability modeling, recovery modeling, CreditModel-type ratings models, templates, credit portfolio models Experience leading complex quantitatively focused team projects Meaningful business analysis skills and an ability to properly understand and define a business problem that will be resolved through quantitative analysis Previous experience managing a staff and maintaining adequate staffing levels; Previous experience establishing and managing project priorities, resource allocation, attaining desired service levels, and working effectively with business unit heads Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences; able to understand the business issues and able to effectively explain their proposed solution so it can be readily understood by internal and external business clients Capable of managing a group that has had a high per-capita publication rate in respected quantitative journals Previous experience in scientific computing and a deep understanding of what is computationally feasible Excellent written and verbal communication skills, very comfortable presenting to a diverse audience and comfortable interacting with global and multicultural staff Negotiating skills for contracting and managing third party data suppliers and outsourced services Demonstrated ability to execute plans efficiently and effectively Strong working knowledge of Excel, Access, Matlab, C++, query tools, and strong SQL skills Customer focus with a good understanding of different market segments that use of S&P data

Multivariate Models applied to portfolios of credit risk: e.g. Portfolio Models, CDO Evaluator, PRT, Correlation, Cash Flow Models
Retail Models: Credit Scoring, Prepayment Analysis, Consumer Behavior
Risk Measures/Ratings Performance: Default Studies, Risk Measures, Operational Risk
Valuation Models: Pricing, Value at Risk, Multifactor Analysis, Advance Rates, Liquidity Analysis
Ability to synthesize different department/unit priorities into overall strategic framework
Ability to communicate complex concepts to a widely divergent international audience
Ability to evaluate market and competitive information to determine appropriate product and strategic initiatives
