JOB TITLE: MIS Technician—Level I

REPORTS TO: Network AdministratorFLSA STATUS: non-exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the MIS Network Administrator, as a primary responsibility: troubleshoot and resolve day to day employee workstation and network support calls. Secondary responsibility will be to assist with implementation, administration and maintenance of the company’s physical Network. Additionally you will occasionally assist the MIS Team as described in this document, which includes other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Provide Telephone and E-Mail Help Desk Support for end users
•Using in-house methods; Install, upgrade, test, troubleshoot, and provide general repair and maintenance support for all desktop computers, and peripheral equipment (printers, tape drives, etc.) in a networked and stand-alone environment.
•Install computer operating systems and desktop application software.
•Assist in the installation, upgrade and maintenance of Network Servers
•Research special projects for equipment, software, etc… as needed
•Lay and terminate network cables
•Review and maintain Archive Software and tapes to ensure backups are complete for each server.
•Setup and repair workstations. Software installs, reinstalls, upgrades, changes and document changes in workstation setup procedures when necessary.
•Back up MIS Network Administrator
•Phone System / Voice Mail Administrator
•Teleconferencing Administrator
•Assist in the maintenance and update of the company Internet / Intranet web site
•Provide technical support as needed to the MIS Team
•Develop and maintain reports for the following on an as needed basis - Help Desk support, Hardware maintenance and Upgrade, Audit and others as become necessary
•Develop and maintain documentation on procedures for all related MIS processes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Perform other duties and projects as required by management.
REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
•MUST HAVE:
oValidated desktop support experience in a corporate environment
oDocumented Basic network training
oExcellent People skills
•A PLUS
oNovell Network and/or Server experience
oMicrosoft Server experience
oWeb design and maintenance experience
oAS400 basic administration skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:
•Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
•Frequent lifting (up to 25 pounds, including workstations, monitors and other MIS supplies, to include UPS).
•Travel to other sites as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Normal office environment.
