Lending Assistant - Houston Heights

Job Type: Full-TimeJob Description:Sterling Bank’s Lending Assistant of the Commercial Lending Group in Houston is responsible for administrative and clerical support to lenders in the management and maintenance of consumer and commercial loan portfolios. Duties include: providing general lending information to customers; taking and preparing loan applications for credit approval; disbursing approved loans; providing customer services related to the lender’s commercial and consumer loan customers and potential customers; and generating new business through cross-selling of bank products. Individual works under limited supervision and may provide supervision or support to other work group members. Individual is responsible for completing tasks efficiently and accurately, ensuring that service expectations are met or exceeded.Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or GED
One to three years of related experience in a bank or credit union
Must qualify to become a Notary Public
Ability to work in fast-paced team environment, handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
Ability to apply general accounting knowledge (debits, credits, balancing) to processes
Ability to apply knowledge and sound judgment in decision-making and understand consequences of decisions
Ability to solve problems; must possess excellent analytical skills
Ability to cross sell bank products and services
Good customer service skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Intermediate level computer competency including Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Working knowledge of banking products, entity documents, policies, processes and procedures
Accurate typing skills (30-35 wpm)Preferred Qualifications:Some college
One to two years of Sterling Bank experience as an FSM (New Accounts Specialist) or FLM (Teller)
Thorough knowledge of banking systems such as Fidelity, Treeve, Laser Pro, Decision Pro, B2B, etc.
Proven team-building, mentoring, training, and coaching skills
Proficient use (by touch) of 10-key calculator
