IT Director - CR&G IT
Corporate Technology has a strong need for an associate in the role of IT Director responsible for overall IT management for the Corporate Reputation & Governance (CR&G) business area.
A new IT team is being created to support this business partner area. As such the position does not have any direct reports at this time but associates and contractors will be hired or transferred as needed in the very near future. The associate will report directly to a Director in Corporate Technology. The associate may be located in Richmond or in McLean.
BIO responsibilities include acting as the primary IT liaison for multiple senior-level customers within the CR&G division. The candidate will be primarily responsible for developing a productive IT relationship with multiple business areas including Legal, Corporate Affairs, Management Services & Governance (MS&G), Audit, Corporate Security, and Brand Management. The candidate will be responsible for developing IT strategy that aligns with the vision of each business area, developing and implementing a Domain Target Architecture, managing teams of IT performers, running and monitoring IT projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and policies (SDM, MIS ED, COBIT, SarbOx, etc.), and being the senior IT manager responsible for all IT services within Capital One for these business partners.
The candidate should have a strong background across multiple IT domains, and equally importantly should have a strong business sense with a general understanding of multiple business domains (Finance, HR, marketing, general management, etc.).
Although this role is to lead CR&G IT, opportunities will exist for lateral opportunities in other areas within Corporate Technology over time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate must operate independently, taking ownership of all aspects of business partner relationship and IT delivery.
Research and develop IT strategy for CR&G in partnership with IT senior management
Plan and execute customer relationship management activities from the Senior Manager to MVP level
Partner with IT staff in Corporate Technology – primarily Risk Management and Finance IT, with IPS, and with other IT groups as needed to implement and support in-house developed and vendor systems, to implement fixes and small enhancements, and to roll out upgrades to vendor software.
Plan and execute IT projects and application support activities
Plan and coordinate project and application support work across all IT stripes
Define and track metrics for ensuring application stability and reliability
The associate will have access to a matrixed Solutions Delivery technical team for design/development resources.
REQUIREMENTS
A critical qualification for this position is a balance between strong IT skills and business knowledge. This position requires a strong business-orientation and an appreciation of business needs and concerns. This position specifically seeks out a business-savvy candidate with exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills; traditional IT-only managers need not apply. Additionally the candidate should have a depth and breadth of IT skills and experience. General IT qualifications include strong analytic capability, organizational skills (both for personal work and for organizing the work of others), leadership presence, and a sense of ownership and responsibility for total IT execution. Maturity, professionalism, and excellent communication skills are required due to senior customer relationship responsibilities inherent to the BIO role. A forward-leaning, results oriented, positive attitude is highly desired.
SUCCESS MEASURES
a) The ability to understand CR&G’s business needs and translate them into an IT strategy and practical system implementations, enhancements, and processes.
b) Taking umbrella ownership/responsibility for IT delivery, and working productively with internal IT groups to deliver value-add, cost-effective IT services to CR&G.
c) Managing applications to adhere to service level agreements and customer value expectations within the approved IT budget.
d) Complying with all Capital One IT standards and processes, and with Corporate Technology strategic metrics.
e) Quarterly Business Partner Satisfaction Survey results are a key measure of IT satisfaction and will be a primary measure of performance.
