Home Equity Underwriting Supervisor

This position is responsible for supervising daily underwriting production at the DiTech office in Mountainside, NJ. The daily functions include but are not limited to, workflow, turn time, productivity and quality monitoring. Position also includes approval of underwriting exceptions, monitoring daily and monthly underwriting production, review and second signature approval of high end and problem loans.

RESPONSIBILITIES, SPECIFIC DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Management of DiTech underwriting staff.

• Monitor underwriting loan production and coordinate file flow to production team underwriter.

• Second signature approval authority for high-end loan.

• Approval authority for underwriting exceptions, i.e., loan to value, loan amortization, FICO.

• Prepare and distribute instructional materials and to set up training for underwriting staff.

• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.

• Focus on underwriting difficult loans for various programs to ensure compliance with company and secondary market investor standards.

• Recommend approval of limited exceptions, reviewing with Senior Credit Officer.

• Serve as an information source to the production staff to maximize production levels, without inappropriate risk.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have 5-7 years of underwriting experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous management experience required. Knowledge of automated underwriting systems helpful

Skills and Abilities:

- Candidate should possess excellent organization, communication, and supervisory skills with a working knowledge of Home Equity Lending.

Personal and/or Professional Characteristics:

- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and have the ability to work with limited supervision.

CONDITIONS OF WORK: Majority of time will be spent on reviewing and approval of exceptions, monitoring workflow and providing support of production team underwriters.

Overtime and travel as needed.
