Fixed Income and Derivatives Associate

Hedge Fund seeks an Associate to join its P&L Group.

Responsibilities
Reconcile P&L between the Front Office systems (Panorama/Murex) and the Books and Records System (Geneva) for fixed income, commodity, and derivative portfolios
Work with Operations/Front Office to resolve breaks
Ensure P&L is reported accurately and completely in the valuation system
Produce Daily P&L Reports for Portfolio Managers and senior management
Conduct independent month end valuations of products; assist in the design of testing procedures and modeling of derivative products
Respond to ad hoc queries from Trading, Operations, IT, Legal, Risk and other departments
Assist in the automation and improvement of existing manual processes
Perform various ad hoc analytical projects for senior management
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
2-5 years’ experience in either the Product Control or Operations Department of an Investment Bank/Hedge Fund or in a Public Accounting firm
Knowledge of financial instruments (bonds, options, swaps, credit derivatives, commodity products)
Understanding of proper valuation and control of various financial instruments
Understanding of the interdependencies and interaction between trading systems and the General Ledger
Strong analytical abilities
Must be comfortable in the use of advanced Excel tools such as Pivot Tables and Functions such as Vlookups
VBA and/or Access skills not required but are a plus
Familiarity with Murex and/or Geneva a plus
