Financial Manager
Basic Accountability:
Direct and train personnel to ensure accounting, credit and administrative areas follow generally accepted accounting practices, company procedures and policies and established computer operating guidelines. Analyze and submit timely financial information to management. Advise management regarding ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness of center operations.
Nature and Scope:
This manager must be knowledgeable in the fundamentals of accounting practices and procedures so that personnel can be trained to properly perform the daily duties and responsibilities of their positions.
The manager is directly responsible for the issuance and accuracy of financial statements, sales tax returns, quarterly corporate reports, bank account reconciliation, payroll and maintaining leased and fixed assets records.
Monitor government regulations and reporting to insure compliance with the manager’s area of responsibility. Responsible for knowledge of company policy and the review of organizational compliance in conjunction with the internal audit function.
Hire, train and promote qualified accounting, credit and administrative personnel. Responsible for human resource benefit administration and record keeping.
This manager must have the ability to assure a smooth transition of the center operations in the event of personnel changes at the administrative and managerial level.
Dimensions:
Possibly five centers with annual sales of $40-60 million and six office personnel.
REQUIREMENTS
Accountabilities:
1.Effectively set up and administer all pertinent books, records, systems and procedures in handling all accounting, financial, analytical and credit matters relating to the business.
2.Provide timely and accurate reporting of financial data, results and analysis to promote profitability, maximize returns on company assets and furnish counsel to management for necessary corrective action for optimum profitability.
3.Assure the safeguard of all assets, effective expense control and maintenance of sound banking relationships. This would include participation in monthly inventory reconciliation.
4.Provide overall support to the Manager, Center Operations and be prepared to handle any direct day-to-day operations of the business for limited periods consistent with all established policies, goals and procedures.
5.Manage and supervise the training and development of the accounting and administrative staff for all functional areas and effectively maintain staffing levels.
6.Review performance results for bonus attainment and recommendations for improvements.
7.Coordinate internal audit functions in compliance with company financial and operation policies.
8.Provide monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements to Corporate and be available to assist them as needed.
9.Coordinate and assist computer host site in effective and efficient operation of the computer. Manage successful completion of all computer related special projects within management area of responsibility.
10.Responsible for weekly payroll preparation and accuracy. Maintain center personnel records including administration of group benefits and orientation of new office employees.
11.Remain current on company, government and generally accepted accounting practices.
12.Effectively communicate with center management on all areas of the operation to assure the team is informed as to the actual or potential problems and opportunities for the long-range continued profitability of the business. This would include monthly visits to all operating locations.
Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field is strongly preferred.
2. Familiarity with pricing, billing, credit, collection and banking.
3. Industry experience and knowledge of Center operations and product lines helpful.
4. Self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
5. Strong computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with either RS6000 or AS400 systems.
