EIU Loan Counselor

NOVASTAR MORTGAGE, a leader in the mortgage industry, is looking for a talented individual to join our Collections team within the Servicing Division of NovaStar Mortgage, Inc. This ever-growing division services NovaStar's already 10 billion loan portfolio!






The EIU Loan Counselor is responsible for a portfolio of loans, including newly booked that are 1 payment past due.



Responsibilities include:


Conduct out bound calls to delinquent borrowers to make payment arrangements and determine reasons for delinquency.


Counsel borrowers on importance of keeping loan current. Provide recommendations or alternatives to prevent further or future delinquency.


Establish repayment programs with borrowers and follow up continuously to ensure agreed upon arrangements are adhered to.


Identify when notices or mailings are required and follow the proper procedures.
Take inbound calls from mortgagors, make payment arrangements and determine reasons for delinquency. Communicate information to new mortgagors regarding new loan number, payment amount and payment address. Forward calls to appropriate departments.


Must become certified as an ACA collector. This requires 6 months employment with current employer and a prior 12 months in the collection field.


Achieve a 3.0% or less roll percentage of total dollar volume to the Advanced Loss Mitigation department.


REQUIREMENTS
Travel Percentage: 0%Qualified candidates must have the following:


Minimum of 6 months telephone-based collection experience, preferably in a mortgage servicing environment.


Good organizational and analytical skills a must.


Advanced knowledge of MS Office Applications, specifically Word and Excel.


Ability to work quickly, accurately and with attention to detail in a busy call center environment.


Ability to research and understand complex directives.


Strong verbal, negotiation and written communication skills. Must have professional telephone etiquette.


Must have the ability to gain a working knowledge of the CPI collection workstation.


Must be able to work as a team member.


High School diploma or equivalent required.
