Director of Retail Operations
The Director of Retail Operations will be responsible for organizing, planning, and directing the functions of all retail credit union operations. Ensures that member sales and service functions provided are consistent with RECU’s corporate culture statements, vision, mission and practices. Ensures that established policies and procedures are followed. Actively promotes and participates in the sales and service process with members and staff.
Has primary responsibility and is accountable for achieving RECU’s sales and service goals mutually established with senior management. Provides leadership to operations department. Fosters the team building and working relationship process among staff by means of coaching, mentoring, and training sessions. Represents the credit union at designated civic, service, and other meeting functions within the community.
REQUIREMENTS
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, promoting, compensating and disciplining staff to carry out the goals and objectives of Retail Operation
Serves as fiscal agent for the credit union. Has a primary fiduciary responsibility for all retail operations security and safety. Responsible and accountable for safe-guarding assets within all branch offices. Ensures that there is strict adherence to branch office security procedures.
Establishes annual planning and goals for each Branch Office deposit, loan, and other sales and performance goals; financial goals which include non-interest income goals and expense controls; administrative and operational goals. Has primary responsibility for implementation, monitoring, and adhering to these goals at each branch office. Participate in corporate strategic planning and budgeting processes.
Oversees all lending activity for RECU. Ensures adherence to credit union policies and procedures. Responsible for the development and delivery of loan products including first mortgage.
Establish and document branch and back-office procedures necessary to deliver retail services. Establish a training program for all persons in branches and back office necessary to implement superior retail services.
Promote honest and open communication throughout the credit union.
Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union’s values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
Work with other credit union departments to insure the workflow or process is providing superior service to the members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Minimum of ten years work experience and five years managerial/supervising experience in a retail credit union or banking operations with significant exposure to loan operations. Some degree of experience in commercial operations is also desired.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration is preferred
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required. Excellent teambuilding and leadership skills are required with the ability to effectively recruit, train and motivate an experienced group of individuals.
Other Skills:1. Strong knowledge of retail deposit and lending products. Demonstrated excellence in project management, supervising, staff planning and implementing new product rollouts.
2. Strong organization and strategic planning skills.
3. Strong written communication skills, demonstrated by samples of previously developed policies, procedures or training materials. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve interpersonal conflict.
4. Effective training and facilitation skills. Ability to lead and supervise staff effectively.
5. Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.
6. Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
7. Must be able to be bonded.
