Director of Multifamily Loans

Purpose:
Our client, a large Financial Institution is looking for a Director for Large Multifamily Loans Department.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director, Multifamily Large Loans reports to the Vice President for Multifamily Large Loans, based in Bethesda, Maryland. The Director will be responsible for the Large Loan activity from the Lender accounts in the Western Business Center.


RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director will direct a group of Senior Multifamily Underwriters in the pre-review of complex real estate debt transactions involving a variety of executions and structures. He or she will serve in a lead role for the business unit on National Account Management team assignments. He or she will have frequent contact with Lender staff and Fannie Mae Senior Management when determining whether and how much capital to invest in any given transaction. The Director will pro-actively share information on transactions, trends and underwriting risks with various Multifamily departments to be used in product and process enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS
-Education: B. A. in Business, Finance or related field. MBA in Real Estate, Finance or related field of study desired.
-8-10 years of experience in a lending environment.
-Experience with multifamily products and capital markets is a plus.
-Work experience with various Federal Housing programs (Low Income housing tax credits, Section 8, FHA) and bond transactions is a plus.
-Knowledge of DUS Lending business model and products.
-Knowledge of Structured Finance products is desired.
-Excellent credit and underwriting skills.
-Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
-Ability to manage well in face of changing priorities.
-Excellent verbal and writing skills.
-Strong organizational skills.
-Highly skilled in MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook software.
-Candidate must possess the ability and confidence to craft and recommend alternative financing solutions to Senior Management and must be willing and able to express contrary opinions when appropriate.
-Can marshal resources to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently.
-Can negotiate skillfully in difficult situations both internally and externally.
-Makes decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines.
-Creates a climate in which people want to do their best; invites input from each person and shares ownership and visibility.
