Director - Fair Value Measurements
This is a leadership opportunity for the right person to expand Hood & Strong LLP’s fair value services practice. In addition to your expertise in developing fair value measurements, we will also look for your proven track record in marketing, selling, and business development.
You will be charged with developing and implementing the fair value services business and marketing plan and being the point person performing fair value reporting engagements from start to finish. This includes scoping and budgeting of projects, selecting and applying valuation methodologies, and all aspects of accounting, reporting and disclosures associated with areas that use fair values.You will interact closely with other functional areas of the firm, such as audit and tax, as well as, with clients and other auditors.
Clients will include mid to large privately held businesses, and smaller public companies.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Skill Requirements:Extensive experience and expertise in developing the fair values used in financial reporting. This includes a thorough understanding and expertise to develop fair value measurements in such areas as:Purchase price allocation (SFAS 141)Share-based compensation (SFAS 123(R))Allocations based on fair value, such as warrants, restricted stock, stock restrictions, stock marketability issues.Must be able to understand deal and transaction issues, and identify, articulate and explain valuation and reporting issues and objectives.The ability to meet deadlines, honor client commitments, avoid unnecessary problems and surprises, and to keep projects on track are all essential.Business Management and Development Skill Requirements:
Self starter, creative, and talented professional accomplished in obtaining and developing business.Leadership savvy to participate in and implement the valuation services business and marketing plan.Outgoing with strong interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills.Strong desire to meet clients, make oral and written presentations, educate, train and develop other professional staff.The ability to manage your own engagements and to also work in a team and common client service capacity with other professionals.
Experience Requirements:
The right candidate for this opportunity may be a small local practice interested in joining Hood & Strong LLP or an individual.The right individual will have 10+ years of unique experience in a consulting firm, CPA firm, and/or investment banking firm environment providing financial and security valuation services.A solid understanding of GAAP; including a thorough understanding applying fair value measurements.Strong experience in purchase price allocations, valuation of options, warrants, valuation and impairment testing of goodwill, intangibles and long-lived assetsLeader with demonstrated ability to market and develop business.Though a CPA is not a prerequisite, expertise will be evidenced by relevant credentials- ABV (Accredited Business Valuation), ASA (Accredited Senior Appraiser), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
