As Director of Finance-Securities, you will be responsible for managing the accounting processes, controls, and reporting for RCG’s CDO issuances, secondary securities positions and hedging portfolios. This position is also responsible for the financial regulatory reporting for the registered broker/dealer (RFSC) and registered investment advisor (RAMCO). You will work closely with various CM/PM business managers, RCG Finance managers to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial information, as well as corporate finance, corporate tax, GAAP group and change management/quality assurance group to ensure proper recording, reporting and communication of transactions.
Essential Accountabilities:
Provide leadership for the department through regular feedback with direct reports, building strong performance culture and working with direct employees on their personal development. In addition, establishes a culture of performance and employee development and works with leadership team to reinforce this culture.
Supervise the month-end closing process, including the following:
Reconcile the ending ledger balances to the income estimates to ensure that any variation from expected results are identified and documented prior to management review of the results.
Analyze posted results and valuation summaries to ensure the recorded results are reasonable in relation to general industry, market and budget trends.
This position will work closely with RVA and the trading desks to obtain timely and accurate market valuation information.
Assess unusual transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment is recorded.
Prior to month-end, ensure resolution of pending items identified during the close process.
Identify and explain major variances from forecast to pre-close and close.
Analyze new or unusual transactions to determine the structure of the transaction and the necessary GAAP, tax accounting and reporting requirements.
Ensure compliance with RFC’s Change Management process.
Ensure ongoing compliance with Sarbanes Oxley policies, procedures and processes.
Manage the completion of monthly estimate files to ensure the estimate includes all relevant information available to finance department, trading desks, and RVA.
Ensure that accurate and timely account reconciliations are completed subsequent to month-end. Provide monitoring and enforcement oversight to ensure that reconciling items are identified and cleared on a timely basis and that cash expectations are appropriately monitored and collected per contractual specifications.
Coordinate the completion, review and submission of all financial reporting to RCG Finance, corporate finance, PWC, GMAC, ResCap, and the NASD. This includes all monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements & footnotes, audit schedules, and other reporting requests.
Requirements:
BS in accounting or finance; MBA Preferred
Only candidates with Security Accounting experience will be considered
Series 27 License and CPA preferred but not required
10 – 15 years of financial accounting experience in financial services business. 5+ years in a leadership position of financial securities business
Excellent knowledge of financial standards, processes ad controls
Thorough understanding of US GAAP financial presentation and applications
Strong management skills with the ability to provide mentoring to staff
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills.
