Standard & Poor's Data Center of Excellence focuses on the data management needs within the Credit Market Services organization to ensure effective and appropriate use of quality content. In an effort to increase the reach of the content throughout the business, the Data CoE is an essential part of S&P's understanding the requirements, the sourcing of the data, as well as the implementation and support of a system meeting the high volume and high quality data needs. This newly created business unit is actively recruiting for a Data Associate-Business Analysis and will be a both a significant contributor and driver of this effort.





The Data Associate will lead the gathering of data requirements for the implementation of reference data architecture in Credit Market Services. This position requires the individual to understand the varying data needs of multiple business units in their requirement to collect content from multiple sources and desire to integrate the content for internal and external purposes. The individual must be prepared to hold detailed conversations and to complete full technical and data specifications with both the IT implementers within S&P and the data providers as well as lead the analysis necessary to ensure a successful rollout and ongoing support.



Major Accountabilities: Understand and analyze broad business problems, conceptualizing the data solutions and processes to solve these business problems Drive the creation of a conceptual data model for Credit Market Services that enables the linking of disparate data sets Work in partnership with IT to incorporate new vendor feeds into CMS data architecture, ensuring data quality principles are adhered to Understand the expectations of Data Management users in the implementation of data entry processes including exception reporting Research and report on any and all reference data identifiers that are within the Ratings process Bring new processes and new technology concepts to the Ratings process. Perform mapping multiple data sources with the intention of full data integration. Use industry best practices to participate in strategic project execution, including leading data requirements specification (DRS) workshops, delivering DRS documents and supervising the execution of DRS activities in CMS projects Design, document, implement and report use cases and test cases for new process implementations Provide the necessary parties with measurable processes to ensure ongoing success of implemented feeds. Determining the inputs, storage and outputs as well as analyze the intervention to manage the businesses' expectations ongoing. Working with Data quality teams for the implementation of the metrics necessary to monitor the new processes. Coordinate across all regions and data management locations to form a standardized process maximizing its assets. This equates to coordinating across, US, Europe and Asia, including India operations. Work regularly with the business champions to ensure the project stays up-to-speed with Data CoE projects and initiatives as it streamlines production processes. Provide the sponsors and stakeholders the service of delivering what is necessary to meet their current and future data needs Provide general and detailed support for data projects in the CMS organization REQUIREMENTS


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or closely related field is required; an MBA is preferred Minimum 3 years experience gathering, documenting and presenting business requirements for a financial services company or global data provider; experience working with working with or as an external consultant is highly desirableMust have data management experience and some workflow redesign and process mapping experienceMust have a good understanding of fixed income terms and conditions and an understanding of Financial Reference Data; must have an intermediate data model understanding Deep understanding of operations experience with experience managing major data projects that resulted in positive business impacting results Some experience working with senior product management staff to prioritize new databases and enhancements to existing databases Advanced project management skills; a PMP would be considered a plus Strong written and oral communication skills Advanced decision making and problem solving skillsComfortable multi-tasking and meet strict deadlines Advanced group facilitation skills Customer focused with a good understanding of different market segments use of S&P dataChampion and agent of changeAbility to work well within the context of a team Good decision making skills and intermediate leadership skills Breadth of international experience, including examining and integrating data across multiple markets.
