Conventional Underwriter
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Manage the workflow assigned by the Supervisor to ensure loans are being processed according to AHM policies/products/guidelines and that designated turn times are met. Promote team spirit in the team through positive interaction with team lead, team members, Production Executives/Associates and the Correspondent customers. Promote excellent customer service to achieve highest results in maintaining and growing customer base. Personal conduct to be a positive model for employees to mirror.
•Act as liaison between company and client – balancing production with risk to the company.
•Fosters teamwork and customer service by developing and maintaining good working relationships with both internal and external customers; cooperates, shares, and supports the goals of the Division; considers the impact on underwriting processes, customers, and management in making decisions.
•Decisioning individual loan issues with the objective to buy quality/saleable loans.
•Seek out resolution to system and compliance issues in a timely manner to meet total turn time objectives.
•Assist in the review data and documentation of closed loan submissions to determine eligibility to corporate programs, compliance to federal and state regs, and original rate lock as needed.
•Maintain 48 hour underwriting decision and customer notification turn time
•Maintain 8 hour condition clearing timeframe.
•Research and provide answers to incoming questions from client via e-mail and telephone within 2 hours – or provide resolution timeframe.
•Identifies and assists in resolving system issues that slow or inhibit the total turn times.
•Analyze documentation submitted to clear conditions and satisfy condition in the system. If necessary, data is updated in the system.
•Provide analysis and work closely to resolve pre funding/post funding issues with the following internal departments: Accounting, IT, Servicing, Trading Desk, Quality Control, Treasury, Shipping, Warehouse, and Record
•Complete closed loan funding review and data entry for loans assigned to team as time allows.
•Completes special projects and other duties as volunteered or assigned. (1%)
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements of the Positions:
Education:
•Associates Degree in Business or equivalent experience
Previous Experience:
•3-5 years Mortgage Banking Experience in Credit Underwriting
•3 Years experience in interpreting program documentation.
•3 Years providing excellent customer service via e-mail and telephone.
Skills, Knowledge:
•Strong Underwriting skills
•Strong computer skills
•Proficient in Excel, Word, Access a plus
•Excellent analytical ability and math aptitude
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Understanding of mortgage compliance regulations
•Understanding of mortgage origination process
•Must have good organization, planning and time management skills
•Ability to research and problem solve
•Ability work in a team environment
•Ability to work with minimal supervision/guidance
•Must have excellent communication, negotiation and decision –making skills, tact and sensitivity
