Summary:These positions are located in Melville as part of the HomeGate Settlement Services group. HomeGate Settlement Services is a vendor management company that was established by American Home Mortgage to help expedite the mortgage process by managing third party vendors while limiting the amount of fraud the company is exposed to. While HomeGate processes flood insurance and credit reports, the main function of HomeGate is the ordering, processing and underwriting of the appraisals for AHM. HomeGate Settlement Services is a fast paced, fast growing environment looking for hard working individuals who are dedicating in starting a career in business and growing with a Company.
Some of the specific responsibilities assigned to this position include:- Review and approve conventional appraisals for national Operations and Sales at AHM
- Follow current HomeGate and AHM policy and procedures for appraisal underwriting
- Responsible for a minimum of 30 files reviewed per day
- Ability to converse professionally with Operations staff and Sales staff on all review related questions
- Must be able to make balanced common sense decisions with regard to current appraisal and credit policy
- Must respond to e-mail and phone field inquiries quickly and accurately in this fast-paced environment
REQUIREMENTS
- College Degree and three (3) to five (5) years Mortgage Processing and Underwriting experience with responsibility for manual appraisal decisions a must. Business experience may supplement college requirement
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills a must
- Minimum three (3) years in an underwriting/processing role with a large Mortgage/Appraisal company preferred
- Familiarity with AHM Credit Policy and Procedures as it relates to Operations a big plus
