JOB SUMMARY: Solicits, examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of customer applications for commercial loans. The Commercial Loan officer III manages a commercial loan portfolio between 30MM and 60MM.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates, processes, and discusses, when appropriate, commercial loan applications. This involves qualifying the customer, analyzing the data using spread systems, and then relaying decisions regarding the acceptance or denial of loan.
Authors complete and thorough credit authorizations utilizing appropriate headings per bank’s procedure manual. Adds additional information as needed in order to make each transaction thoroughly understandable and freestanding.
Interviews applicant and requests specified information for loan application.
Manages a portion of the portfolio including annual reviews, which requires updating financial statements, inspecting properties, and writing reviews.
Prices all loans with rates and fees that meet bank’s goals and approves loans within assigned lending authority.
Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy.
Develops commercial relationships and initiates all commercial requests, including residential construction loans.
Effectively represents bank within the community.
Keeps up-to-date on current market trends, key competitors, etc.; recognizes/identifies areas of opportunity presented by changes and shifts in the marketplace.
Refers credit authorizations to manager and upward, if necessary, for approval.
Maintains portfolio quality by monitoring risk-rating assessments on borrowers and recommends changes when warranted.
May review for approval, contractor, short term spec & pre-sold construction loans submitted by other department personnel.
Backup for Consumer Lending. Completes underwriting and handles contact with Retail branches. Coordinates preparation of loan documents and closings.
Creates and maintains a proactive sales plan to develop new business with current customers or prospects which includes identifying, initiating contact by telephone or personal contact, and performing follow-up.
Assists in setting up and implementing new CML products as they become available.
Assists the bank in meeting CRA goals by actively seeking opportunities that meet specified CRA guidelines.
Recognizes policy exceptions and declines requests or mitigates exceptions in the credit authorizations.
Adds loan covenants, as necessary, in order to protect the Bank’s interests.
May manage the Commercial Lending Department in the absence of the VP/Department Manager.
Solicits additional commercial products such as depository accounts, credit card merchant accounts, and cash management services.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university preferred; 6-8 years-related experience in credit analysis and or commercial lending; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write detailed credit authorizations and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions one-on-one or in small groups to customers and management.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios.Other Skills & Abilities: Excellent Sales Skills
Computer experience required, preferably Excel and Word.
Working knowledge of HP12C or equivalent
Ability to build rapport with both external and internal customers
Familiarity with financial spread systems
Competency in the English language
High degree of reliability
High level of work standard
Decisive and analytical
Well organized
Objective
Valid driver’s license
